The Whitsundays is in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, 150km north of Mackay and 200km south of Townsville. The region stretches from Proserperine in the south to Bowen in the north; west from Collinsville and east to Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday islands, an archipelago of green islands and sandy atolls surrounded by tropical blue waters.
The soft, white sands of Whitehaven Beach, the crystal clear waters and the spectacular corals make the Whitsundays an attractive destination for every visitor. The Whitsundays is home to Hamilton Island, One and Only Hayman Island, Daydream Island and Long Island, among others.
In 2016 the Whitsundays will be globally recognised as one of the world’s leading tropical island and marine leisure holiday destinations.
