Bleach* Festival lights up Gold Coast

A wave of artistic celebration will sweep across the Gold Coast from today as the Bleach* Festival lights up venues throughout the city.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Kate Jones, joined local and visiting artists to launch the event on the Gold Coast today.

“Bleach* Festival is a colourful celebration of the spectacular visitor experiences the Gold Coast has to offer,” said Ms Jones.

“It brings to life the natural elements of the destination that make it a favourite among holidaymakers.”

Ms Jones said the event was supported through Tourism and Events Queensland as part of its Regional Development Program.

“The Palaszczuk Government is proud to support events such as the Bleach* Festival because they bolster Queensland’s tourism industry, and that means creating more jobs for Queenslanders,” said Ms Jones.

“More than 66,000 visitors are expected to attend Bleach* Festival, providing a boost for the local economy.”

Festival Director Louise Bezzina said she and her team were excited that the Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Kate Jones, was coming to Coolangatta to attend the opening of Bleach* Festival.

“We look forward to introducing Minister Jones to Bleach* Festival, an event that showcases everything there is to love about Queensland’s Gold Coast; its lifestyle and beach culture,” said Ms Bezzina.

“We value the enthusiasm and support for our multi-art form event shown by Minister Jones and look forward to working in collaboration with Tourism and Events Queensland to build national and international profile of arts and culture on the Gold Coast.”

Bleach* Festival runs from 6-22 March 2015 featuring a program of contemporary live music, pop-up art installations and exhibitions, outdoor film programs, street parties, theatre, and ideas.
