#Room753 showcases Queensland to millions

Social media audiences around the world will hear all about Queensland’s tourist destinations through an online campaign underway this week.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events Kate Jones said the Room 753 tourism campaign invited 11 prominent digital influencers to travel to Queensland destinations and share their experiences with an online audience of 10 million.

“The participants come from Queensland’s key visitor markets including China, Singapore, the UK, Europe, US as well as Australia,” Minister Jones said.

“Each digital influencer will spend one week exploring a Queensland destination and receive an itinerary tailored to their interests, from arts and culture to adventure tourism, food and wine experiences.

“The guests will then retreat to Room 753, where they can create and publish articles and images captured during their time in Queensland.”

Ms Jones said the influencers included prominent instagrammers, bloggers, photographers and YouTube personalities.

An initiative of Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ), Room 753, translates to ‘Room QLD’ based on the corresponding numbers and letters on a phone touchpad.

TEQ Group Executive Marketing, Steve McRoberts, said the program would build on the success of the inaugural Room 753 held in 2014.

“Last year, the initiative generated almost 5,000 online posts about Queensland, creating an exciting online discussion,” Mr McRoberts said.

“Room 753 enables us to connect and engage online audiences with Queensland’s destinations and inspire them to have their own Queensland adventure.”

Mantra Group CEO Bob East said Peppers Broadbeach was delighted to again partner with TEQ to deliver an exceptional experience for Room 753 guests.

”Peppers Broadbeach prides itself on creating unique, memorable experiences and with each of the influencers ending their visit to Queensland at Peppers they are sure to be left with a lasting impression of their time here,” Mr East said.

TEQ has a strong focus on digital marketing with around 1 million Facebook fans, 153,000 Instagram and 78,000 Twitter followers. TEQ recently topped the list of Skift’s 10 best destinations on social media in December 2014.

Queensland will host Room 753 guests throughout the state from 13 April to 28 June 2015. Follow their Queensland experience using #Room753 and #thisisqueensland.

The Palaszczuk Government is committed to growing tourism in Queensland and the 200,000 jobs it supports.
