Tourism and Events Queensland farewells long-serving International Director

Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) will farewell its greatly respected and long-serving International Director Japan, Toshiaki Nishizawa on 30 June 2017. 

TEQ Chief Executive Officer Leanne Coddington announced Toshi-san’s retirement from the state’s leading tourism organisation today. 

“I would like to acknowledge and thank Toshi-san for his invaluable service to Tourism and Events Queensland for the past 16 years,” Ms Coddington said.

“Toshi-san has been a fiercely loyal, passionate and dedicated member of the TEQ team who achieved resounding outcomes for Queensland’s tourism industry.

“The TEQ team, especially the Japan office, will greatly miss Toshi-san’s professional knowledge, team spirit and guidance in generating the best possible outcomes for Queensland.”

Ms Coddington said Toshi-san led TEQ’s successful Japan team for 16 years where he achieved strong results out of the Japan source market. 

"The relationships he has developed with both the Queensland tourism industry and the aviation and trade sectors in Japan have been outstanding and will serve our Industry well into the future," Ms Coddington said.

“Some of Toshi-san’s standout successes include his long-term leadership of the TEQ Japan team and hosting the Japan Association of Travel Agents Board into Brisbane and the Gold Coast during December 2015. 

“He was also instrumental in securing and ensuring the success of airline services into Queensland, and overall, positioning Queensland as a must visit destination in the minds of Japanese travellers. 

“I offer Toshi-san my best wishes as he commences this next chapter of his life and hope he enjoys a happy and fulfilling retirement.”
