Connecting with the Asian traveller through digital channels
Connecting with visitors digitally throughout the holiday planning cycle is essential. Through presentations by speakers from Mafengwo, Facebook and IDENTITY Communications, this session provided an overview of how consumers from key Asian markets use of different digital channels to plan and book their holidays.
Lv Gang, COO and co-founder of the Mafengwo.com travel platform, is a fellow guiding light in the independent travel and culture lifestyle, as well as an expert in travel e-commerce operations. Lv Gang is responsible for Mafengwo.com’s lucrative implementation of SNS data integration and business operations. Together with his colleagues, he has worked to build up a Mafengwo.com as an online travel industry platform for independent travel, as well as generate targeted users and orders for or partners in the travel industry.
From 2013 onwards, Lv Gang has overseen a rapid increase in business services for independent travel, traffic and advertising, primarily for the hotel industry, with annual turnover exceeding CNY 900 million. Lv Gang is a romantic at heart, loves to travel, riding, skiing, photography, diving, and has driven across the USA, as well as the African savannah.

Paul McCrory leads a team at Facebook responsible for helping advertisers and agencies maximise their use of Facebook as a core marketing platform.
His work involves providing customers with tools that enable them to measure and monitor their use of Facebook to achieve business objectives. Paul has a focus on enabling clients to scale performance marketing and achieve brand marketing objectives by partnering with Facebook.
Before joining Facebook, Paul led Experian’s Digital division in Australia. His previous experience has provided him with key skills in data, analytics and technology across the Financial Services, Travel and Retail industries.
Thang Ngo has two decades of multicultural marketing with roles on client and agency sides. He currently heads IPG Mediabrand’s IDENTITY Communications, a leading full-service multicultural marketing agency.
Thang has launched several multicultural firsts for clients including setting up and continuing community management of Mini Australia’s Weibo account, a first for any local car brand and a Diwali social video campaign for St.George Bank, using Facebook and YouTube to target the Indian community in Australia.
Prior to IDENTITY, Thang worked at SBS, Australia’s multicultural broadcaster, where he conceived PopAsia TV, Australia’s popular free to air Asian music TV show.

Chris has worked in the tourism industry for 22 years and held various roles across retail travel, international marketing, publicity and digital marketing.
