Queensland coast. Among these is the grey nurse shark – one of Australia’s most endangered shark species with only 1,000 said to remain within the east Australian population. \u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDescribed as the ‘labradors of the ocean’, grey nurse sharks are typically harmless to humans. Those keen to get up close to the 3.5m long creatures, can do so all year around at \u003Ca href=\"https://www.queensland.com/en-au/attraction/wolf-rock-dive-site\" target=\"_blank\"\u003EWolf Rock\u003C/a\u003E, off the coast of Rainbow Beach, just two hours north of Brisbane. \u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOverhanging ledges and vertical gutters, combined with warmer water temperatures and an abundance of marine life make this not only an ideal Since then, swimming with minke whales has become one of the world’s best and longest wildlife encounters.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca href=\"https://www.mikeball.com/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003EMike Ball Expeditions\u003C/a\u003E run multi-day expeditions from Cairns to swim with dwarf minke whales on the Ribbon Reefs, on the Outer Great Barrier Reef. \u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMike Ball also support the James Cook University Minke Whale Project with spot reserved for a James Cook University Minke Whale Project researcher on all minke expeditions. Onboard guests are also encouraged to help contribute to the database by sharing photos and collecting data, assisting researchers in learning more about these inquisitive creatures. This means you’ll be part of the science history in the making, joining these researchers as they conduct fieldwork on the trip.
