Their sole purpose is to encourage a return of the wild and wondrous. And it’s working. The reef here is alive with colour and sound.  \u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHaving once won prizes for home-grown potatoes in Scotland, before permanently moving to Australia in 2000, John and his wife, Jenny, are now ‘blue thumb’ gardeners on a mission to help grow coral and protect the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.   \u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003ETogether with their crew, they have hammered more than 12,000 Coralclip® devices into the reef substrate as part of the Coral Nurture Program in partnership with researchers from the University of Technology Sydney, and with the full blessing of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. \u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWhile it’s the job of the researchers to use cutting-edge research that guides the Coral Nurture Program, John’s role, along with his crew, is to deliver the ‘hard graft’ of gardening, and the wider vision of inspiring a hour, the cinnamon toned Maheno shipwreck, sparkly Ely Creek, Central Station with its towering capsicum green trees and Lake Mackenzie, the blue-eyed girl of the island. If there’s a fact to know about any one of those spots, guaranteed Peter can whip it off the end of his tongue in a jiffy. He’s also pretty hand with a camera, capturing thousands of stunning moments in nature across
