Whitsundays Great Barrier Reef Forum

26 March 2019 09:00 AM - 26 March 2019 11:00 AM

Lure, Abell Point Marina

Tourism can change the way people think and engage with the Great Barrier Reef by giving them direct, personal access. Collectively, we have the power to promote a united GBR tourism message via visitors, media and travel trade and increase tourism’s profile as an important reef custodian.

The GBR’s credentials as the best managed reef in the world and home to diverse and unique marine wildlife are a significant platform for the tourism industry to position our Great Barrier Reef Tourism industry as world leaders in responsible tourism and best practice interpretation.

Whitsundays Tourism and Tourism and Events Queensland in partnership with Tourism Australia and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority have been delivering a series of forums throughout February.

These forums are designed to engage directly with tourism operators in Great Barrier Reef destinations to ensure consistent messages about the value of the GBR and the contribution tourism makes, as well as the ways consumers can get involved to understand both the challenges and opportunities of the GBR.

Results of research undertaken in 2018 to understand domestic and international travellers attitudes and perceptions of the Reef and TEQ’s new strategic plan for marketing the reef will be shared as part of the session.

Please join us for the Whitsundays region event in Airlie Beach at Lure, Abell Point Marina. Please register your interest HERE no later than 5pm Thursday 21st March 2019. For further information please contact Azra Hadzic on azra.hadzic@queensland.com or on 07 3535 5486
