DestinationQ 2020 Forum

In this extraordinary year, the DestinationQ 2020 Forum was held virtually on Friday, 4 September 2020. Presented in partnership by the Department of State Development, Tourism and Innovation, the Queensland Tourism Industry Council and Tourism and Events Queensland, the forum focused on supporting the state’s tourism industry to understand and adapt to the continuing impacts of COVID-19.

Guest presenters and panellists offered perspectives on the health, social and economic impacts of COVID-19 and provided inspiration for the future of tourism, examining new opportunities and profiling sustainable operating models. 

Keynote speakers included Professor Tony Blakely, Professorial Fellow in Epidemiology, Melbourne School of Population and Global Health at the University of Melbourne, and Jarrod Ball, Chief Economist of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA).

Industry panellists included:

  • Ms Sonjha Forbes, General Manager Tropical North Queensland, Entrada Travel Group.
  • Mr Adam Penmberthy, Managing Director, City Winery Brisbane.
  • Mr Mark Duckworth, Festival Director, Blues On Broadbeach.

  • Mr Johnny Murison, Owner/Operator, Jarramali Rock Art Tours.
