TV WEEK Logies returns to the Gold Coast in 2019

Australia’s TV A-list will return to the Gold Coast for the 2019 TV WEEK Logies on Sunday, 30 June, Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones has announced.Ms Jones said the industry’s night-of-nights was the ideal platform to showcase Queensland as a film and television powerhouse and world-class tourism destination.
“The Logies delivered a great return for the Gold Coast’s tourism industry last year, generating tens of millions of dollars in exposure alone,” she said.
“The star power of the Logies makes it one of the most lucrative TV events in the country.
“Last year plenty of high-profile celebrities and industry representatives enjoyed the Gold Coast’s hospitality and tourism experiences, sharing their experiences with their fans. We know that brings the kind of exposure that money can’t buy.
Assistant Tourism Industry Development Minister Meaghan Scanlon said growing the tourism sector and the screen industry were two major aims of the Palaszczuk Government on the Gold Coast.
“For the first time in the history of the Logies in 2018, we worked with organisers to host two industry events to capitalise on the vast knowledge and skill of the industry professionals while on the Gold Coast. This created opportunities for local students to network and further their careers,” she said.
“Hosting the Logies on the Gold Coast has certainly brought the event to the next level and through Tourism and Events Queensland we continue to work on strategies to grow those returns to the state’s economy.
“The reputation of the Gold Coast as a state-of-the-art film and television production hub and world-class event host goes from strength to strength. We’re still riding high from the glory of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and just over a week ago hosted the worldwide television phenomenon of Eurovision.”
Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones said the 2018 TV WEEK Logies ceremony drew a viewing audience of more than one million people and generated an estimated $40 million in publicity.
“We invest in major events that deliver a strong return for our economy,” she said.
“Since 2015, Labor has more than doubled the value of Queensland’s major events calendar – this year tipped to generate $800 million.
“We’ll continue to invest in events like the Logies to ensure that number rises in the future.”
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said the Coast was the ideal host for the TV WEEK Logies.
“The inaugural Logies appearance on the Gold Coast was beyond all expectations. The actors, producers, family and guests had an absolute ball,” he said.
“It is now seen as one of the best parties on the Coast.
“Given we are famous for our hospitality, I know so many people who couldn’t attend in 2018 are already locked in for this June.
“I can’t wait for this year when the gold carpet is rolled out for the best talent in Australian television.”
