Registration call for state's largest tourism forum

07 September 2016

Tourism leaders are encouraged to register for DestinationQ in Mackay on Tuesday 25 October.

Tourism Minister Kate Jones said industry representatives had until Friday 9 September to register for the state’s largest tourism forum.

Ms Jones said the DestinationQ forum would explore ways to grow Queensland’s booming tourism economy.

"I encourage industry representatives to register for this forum,” she said.

“It is a great opportunity for industry and government to get together in the same room to discuss growing tourism in Queensland,” she said.

Ms Jones said the Palaszczuk Government was committed to working in partnership with tourism operators.

“The DestinationQ Forum is our annual opportunity for stakeholders, tourism businesses and government to sit down together and plan for the future,” she said.

“The theme of this year’s forum is Growing Queensland Jobs and we will discuss ways to keep the positive momentum going to create jobs for Queenslanders.

“We want to position ourselves to capture our share of the growing tourism market, particularly the booming Asian market.”

Ms Jones said the event will feature presentations from key industry figures along with panel sessions with Palaszczuk Government Ministers.

The discussions will be framed around five topics: transport and connectivity; workforce skills and quality; digital experiences; leveraging and optimising events; and infrastructure and investment.

Advancing Tourism 2016-20 will also be released at the DestinationQ Forum.
