Gold Coast the perfect destination this winter

Australians will be enticed to warm up this winter with a holiday on the Gold Coast as the latest instalment of the ‘Famous for fun’ And Action! campaign rolling out this week.
Tourism Minister Jann Stuckey said the campaign was designed to entice visitors to enjoy the Gold Coast’s enviable winter weather, delivering on the Government’s election promise to grow tourism as one of the four pillars of the economy.
“The Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland has partnered with Gold Coast Tourism to promote the region’s tourism products and experiences in the lead up to the winter school holiday period,” Ms Stuckey said.
“The latest And Action! campaign is all about inviting visitors to book their own Famous for fun Gold Coast experience in one of the nation’s most vibrant and exciting holiday destinations with competitive holiday packages on offer for travel from June to September.
“This campaign reinforces the Queensland Government’s 20-year plan for tourism Destination Success which highlights the importance of preserving and growing the value of the domestic market.”
Ms Stuckey said the campaign will target the key interstate markets of Sydney and Melbourne as well as the important drive-market of South-East Queensland with promotions featuring across television, radio and online.
“And Action! will continue to build on the growing number of interstate visitors to the Gold Coast, which welcomed 601,000 Sydney-siders in 2013, an increase of 13 per cent on the year prior.”
Gold Coast Tourism CEO Martin Winter said more than 66 local operators would showcase their product in the campaign.
“This campaign reinforces the Gold Coast reputation as the perfect winter escape for visitors, offering a range of action-packed experiences from theme parks, shopping, national parks, to restaurants and nightlife,” said Mr Winter.
The Gold Coast welcomed 3.5 million domestic visitors in 2013 who spent $3.1 million on trips to the region.
