The 2016-17 Regional Tourism Satellite Accounts (RTSA) were undertaken by Tourism Research Australia (TRA).
The RTSAs evaluate tourism industry activity and performance within tourism regions. For the first time, the results break down the contribution of tourism to all tourism regions in Australia.
The RTSAs measure both the direct and indirect impacts of tourism on the economy and include metrics such as gross regional product and employment. This information was previously published at the national and state level, and is now available at the tourism region level.
The results in the fact sheets below represent financial year 2016-17 data and this information is updated on an annual basis.
To explore the data in an online dashboard and for further information on the methodology of the RTSAs, please visit the TRA website by clicking here.
